Product glossary

Plain-language definitions of the terms used across IT Audit Factory. Features vary by edition and version.

Use the approved 4.1.0 installer for your edition and confirm the version shown in the installed application. Published package availability is shown in Downloads & beta access.

Certification Portfolio

Several audit programs for one client, each with its own scope, owners, evidence, findings and conclusions. Available in Professional and MSP; not a certification issued by the software.

Evidence lineage

The links connecting a finding or report to the collection records, source systems, timestamps and evidence supporting it.

Evidence Vault

The product’s managed evidence storage. Local or central storage, encryption and access controls depend on the edition and deployment.

Assessment projection

Updating related workspaces and report data from the underlying assessment records so reviewers do not have to re-enter the same information.

Governed records

Policies, risk records, reviews and other organizational records with an owner and review or approval process.

Technical result and human conclusion

A technical check reports what was observed in its scope. A governance or audit conclusion also requires appropriate evidence and human review. No Data is not a pass.

Planning-only profile

A structure for organizing future or manual assessment work. Its presence does not prove that automated requirement-level tests are implemented.

Exact mapping and supporting scope

An exact mapping links a requirement to named technical Test IDs. Supporting scope identifies relevant collector families but does not establish an exact test for every requirement.

Screenshot evidence

A captured view used with commands, output and collection context. A hash helps identify changes to the captured file; it does not establish the truth of the screen by itself.

Installation ID

The identifier of the workstation or server installation used for license binding. Send it to Support as requested; it is not the license key itself.

License key

The activation value provided for an approved edition and installation. Treat it as private, and do not share or reuse another installation’s key.

Workstation lease

An assessor-workstation licensing allocation managed through the MSP server. This is distinct from the server’s own Installation ID and license.

Human approval

A recorded review decision by an authorized person. In MSP governance, automatically suggested status is not the final approved conclusion.
